" 'I am only resolved to act in that manner, which will, in my own opinion, constitute my happiness, without reference to you, or to any person so wholly unconnected with me.' "

I completely agree with Elizabeth, because it shouldn't matter if Lady Catherine would be happy with Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy getting married or not. I think it's ridiculous for Lady Catherine to assume that Mr. Darcy is supposed to marry her daughter, Miss de Bourgh, and completely rude of her to claim that Elizabeth would be a disgrace to Mr. Darcy. I also think it's funny how Lady Catherine believes Elizabeth is selfish, when really Lady Catherine is the one who's selfish, because she only cares about her wishes for her daughter to marry Mr. Darcy and completely disregards Mr. Darcy's feelings.

"Elizabeth, who was left by herself, now smiled at the rapidity and ease with which an affair was finally settled, that had given them so many previous months of suspense and vexation."

I am very happy that Jane and Mr. Bingley are finally engaged because I feel like Jane and Mr. Bingley are perfect for each other. I couldn't stand the fact that Mr. Darcy had ruined the relationship between Elizabeth's sister, Jane, and Mr. Bingley before and I'm glad that they are finally together now like they should be. I'm also happy that they are together because Elizabeth's sister is happy now and no longer sad from something Mr. Darcy caused, which I believe will make Elizabeth like Mr. Darcy even more and hopefully result in them getting married and being happy.

" 'I must confess that I never could see any beauty in her. Her face is too thin; her complexion has no brilliancy; and her features are not at all handsome.' "

I really don't like this idea because I don't believe it's right for Miss Bingley to criticize Elizabeth just because she's jealous that Mr. Darcy likes Elizabeth and not herself. This is only going to make Mr. Darcy like Miss Bingley less, because she's insulting the person Mr. Darcy cares about, which obviously is going to make him upset and angry. It's not Elizabeth's fault that Mr. Darcy likes her, so Miss Bingley needs to stop saying cruel things about her, because it's mean and Elizabeth doesn't deserve it.

" 'I often tell young ladies, that no excellence in music is to be acquired without constant practice.' "

I agree with Lady Catherine and, being very dedicated to band, I can definitely relate this to my own experiences. Practicing my bassoon constantly has resulted in me making the Texas All-State Band two years, as well as District, Region, and Area Band all four years in high school. I believe that the best way to excel at anything, especially music, is by always practicing and therefore, I strongly support what Lady Catherine said.

" 'Speak to Lizzy about it yourself. Tell her that you insist upon her marrying him.' "

I strongly don't like this idea because I don't think it's fair at all for Mrs. Bennett to try to get Mr. Bennett to insist for their daughter, Elizabeth, to marry Mr. Collins when Elizabeth doesn't want to. Mrs. Bennett isn't the one who'd have to live with Mr. Collins, Elizabeth would, so Elizabeth should be able to decide herself if she wants to marry him or not, not her mother. Elizabeth wouldn't be happy being forced to marry Mr. Collins, and Mrs. Bennett should care more about her daughter's feelings than her own wishes.
